Report from 16 to 22 March

The research vessel STF K-1704 «Atlantida» in the Antarctic part of the Atlantic are nearing completion. At the beginning of the week, a meridional oceanological incision with acoustic sounding, hydrological stations and herbs from the Bransfield Strait to 60° N.

In the second half of the week, the ship moved to the southern part of the Skotia Sea and began research work on the section located between the Southern Shetland Islands and the island of Mordvinov (northern island from the archipelago of the southern Shetland Islands).

The second cut was decided to be made in the direction from the south to the north in order to avoid unfavorable weather conditions. Until the southernmost station had to bypass the huge iceberg, in fact an ice island, whose length was 42 miles (about 75 km).

From 16 to 22 March with research work 538 miles have been passed. 17 trawling and 17 complex oceanological stations.
