A meeting of Russian and Norwegian scientists took place

VNIRO management took part in the annual meeting of Russian and Norwegian scientists, during which a plan for joint research of environmental conditions and reserves of aquatic bioresources of the Barents Sea and adjacent waters was considered.

 
The meeting in Bergen (Norway), held on the basis of the Institute of Marine Research (BIMI), was attended in person by the Director of VNIRO for Scientific Work Oleg Bulatov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work Vladimir Belyaev, as well as the head of the Polar Branch Vyacheslav Mukhin.
 
The scientists discussed a wide range of issues related to the methodology and practical implementation of Russian-Norwegian surveys of jointly managed reserves of hydrobionts. Such studies cover all components of the Barents Sea ecosystem – from zooplankton to marine mammals (including their habitat conditions).
 
The specialists paid special attention to the joint stocks of commercial fish, planning of the autumn stage of the Russian-Norwegian ecosystem survey, data exchange between Russia and Norway.
 
The results of the joint work will be used to prepare materials for the next meeting of the delegations of Russia and Norway within the framework of the Joint Russian-Norwegian Fisheries Commission (SRNC).
