The event discussed the problems of research and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Arctic, archeology and ethnography of the Kola North, geoecology, the intangible cultural heritage of peoples, nature management and environmental protection in the Arctic zone, as well as socio-economic factors of development, regional studies, local history, tourism and artistic exploration of the Arctic.
The Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) was presented by specialists of the Polar Branch: Tatiana Pashkova, Larisa Pestrikova and Evgeny Sentyabov. The scientists made a presentation "PINRO's participation in the environmental monitoring of oil and gas fields in the Arctic seas of Russia" and talked about the history of research in the North from the 19th century to the creation of the Floating Marine, PINRO's contribution to the development of fisheries in the Barents Sea and other parts of the World Ocean, the peculiarities of oil and gas exploration on the offshore, the fragility of the northern nature, and The participation of VNIRO's Polar Branch in the environmental support of these surveys in various licensed areas of the Barents and Kara Seas was highlighted.
