The scientists assessed the condition and recovery rates of the populations of chir, nelma and muksun, combining ichthyological studies with hydrological, hydrochemical and hydrobiological observations.
During the work, specialists recorded key biological indicators of fish (length, weight, sex, maturity stage, age), documented spawning areas and migration routes, and analyzed the proportion of juveniles in catches, growth rates, and age structure of the herd. These data serve as the main indicators of populations' ability to self—repair.
All ichthyological data were synchronized with the results of habitat studies: water samples, dissolved oxygen values, zooplankton and zoobenthos data. This comprehensive approach allows us to identify the factors that most affect the condition of whitefish.
The preliminary results will form the basis of recommendations for the conservation of fish resources, including protection of spawning grounds, regulation of fishing and monitoring of water quality, as well as help to track long—term trends and assess the effectiveness of environmental protection measures.
