The juveniles were carefully prepared at the fish hatchery, and delivered to the place of release in special containers on modern transport: this technology allows you to preserve the viability of the fry and reduce the stress of movement to a minimum.
The event is part of a long—term program to restore the sterlet population in the region. The efforts of scientists and specialists are aimed not only at returning the number of the species to sustainable indicators, but also at maintaining the ecological balance of the reservoir and developing fisheries based on the principles of sustainability.
The issue was supervised by the Volga Commission‑Kamsky territorial administration of Rosrybolovstvo. V. P. Maslikov, senior specialist of the Laboratory of Aquaculture of the Saratov branch of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), took part in the work of the commission.
