The ship "Atlantis" has successfully passed sea trials before the scientific expedition

On October 6, 2026, under the leadership of the Deputy Director — Head of the Atlantic Branch of the SSC RF "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) Konstantin Bandurin's ship STM Atlantis underwent sea trials — after repair, it was being prepared for research work in the Central‑The Eastern Atlantic.

The vessel left the port of Kaliningrad, passed through the Kaliningrad Sea Canal and entered the Baltic Sea. They checked the main engine, auxiliary diesel generators, the thruster control system, as well as the trawl and sampling complex, winches, acoustic and oceanological systems, communication posts and controls.

The tests were carried out in difficult conditions — with strong winds and waves — to assess the reliability of the new systems. Specialists who performed installation and commissioning work participated in the work: they promptly adjusted the settings according to the instructions of the ship's specialists.

New control systems for trawl and multi-drum winches and thrusters have shown high efficiency and convenience, expanding the possibilities of equipment configuration and diagnostics.

The sea trials were recognized as successful: the identified minor malfunctions were fixed for elimination before departure. The vessel is ready for scientific research work in any part of the World Ocean.
