The event was attended by the head of St. Petersburg‑Marina Melnik, Head of the Department of Food and Processing Industry of the Committee on Agriculture of the Leningrad Region Natalia Tarasova and Deputy Head of the FSGTSR branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Glavrybvod Viktor Golod attended the St. Petersburg branch of the SSC RF "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).
The experts focused on the development of aquaculture in the North‑West of the Russian Federation, including import substitution of planting materials and feed, as well as the prospects of whitefish farming. The achievements of fisheries science were also discussed: breeding and technologies for rearing juveniles.
The key announcement was Viktor Golod's announcement about the imminent opening of a breeding and genetic center for fish farming in Petrozavodsk. The center will supply live caviar and resilient juveniles to trout farms in Karelia, which will strengthen the raw material base of the region's aquaculture.
Marina Melnik invited young specialists to graduate school: the branch will provide access to laboratories, field research and industry projects.
