Scientists are working in the three largest reservoirs of the Upper Volga — Rybinsk, Uglichsky and Ivankovsky. Each of these reservoirs is a special ecosystem with unique flora and fauna that requires detailed study.
During the expedition, experts conduct trawl and acoustic surveys, assess populations of rare and valuable fish species, and study their habitat, including the influence of natural factors and human activity. At the same time, water samples are being taken: their analysis will help to assess the chemical composition and level of pollution of reservoirs. Based on the collected data, scientists will prepare recommendations on the volume of allowable catch, as well as on the protection and rational use of fish stocks.
The research results will be processed in the branch's laboratories: specialists will analyze the materials in detail, assess the state of the environment and formulate proposals that will help preserve biodiversity and ensure the sustainable development of the fisheries industry.
