For the first time since 2019, the meeting was held in face—to-face format, which helped the parties to quickly resolve many differences. Following the negotiations, a protocol was signed that sets out the fishing parameters of jointly regulated stocks for 2027.
The total allowable catch for key fish species has been increased: the quota for cod fishing in 2027 will increase by 14%, and for haddock fishing by 18%. In addition, the rules governing halibut and perch fishing have been agreed upon.
An important result of the session was the joint research program for 2027. Russia and Norway have also agreed to hold another scientific symposium in 2028, the topic of which will be determined at the next meeting of representatives of the two countries in 2027.
