The discussion was attended by representatives of the feed producer, scientists of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), specialists of SKTU FAR and employees of salmon plants in the region.
Nikolay Kolpakov, head of the Sakhalin branch of VNIRO, opened the work of the site: he welcomed colleagues and guests and wished everyone productive work. During the meeting, reports were presented, which caused a lively discussion.
Representative of Melkom LLC‑Denis Yankov spoke about the qualitative changes in AQUAREX compound feeds‑VNIRO is for Pacific salmon. Maxim Arnautov, Head of the Feed and Feed Products Department at VNIRO, presented the results of the assessment of the viability of juvenile chum salmon at the Sakhalin Oblast Processing Plant in 2025. Of particular interest was the presentation by Maryana Plaksina, Head of the Pacific Salmon Department, who highlighted the problem of reducing the size and weight of Pacific salmon and offered practical recommendations on how to eliminate the causes.
Representatives of SKTU FAR, FSBI Glavrybvod and salmon plants formulated a number of proposals to improve feed production — this will help increase the efficiency of artificial reproduction of Pacific salmon.
