Monitoring in Yandova Bay

From October 14 to October 15, 2026, specialists from the Northern Branch of the SSC RF "All—Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) conducted monitoring observations at a complex semi-daily station in the Yandova Bay of the Dvinsky Bay of the White Sea, an important area that serves as a natural spawning ground for herring and a feeding area for juveniles of key commercial fish species.

During the work, scientists collected data on key parameters of seawater — temperature, salinity, pH level, oxygen content and nutrients. Water and soil samples were also taken for the analysis of pollutants (aluminum, phenol, petroleum products), as well as samples of phytoplankton, zooplankton and zoobenthos.

The initial assessment showed that in October, the sea waters were highly saturated with oxygen, with an average of 116.4%. At the same time, the content of aluminum and petroleum products did not exceed the maximum permissible concentrations established for water bodies of fisheries importance.

The data obtained will help to assess the state of the habitat and the food supply of aquatic biological resources.
