Development course: meeting of the VNIRO Director with the staff of the Tyumen branch

Kirill Kolonchin, Director of the Scientific Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), Doctor of Economics, visited the Tyumen branch and met with the staff.

First of all, Kirill Viktorovich congratulated the staff on awarding the VNIRO team the Order of Honor for their contribution to the development of the fisheries industry and their achievements in research activities.

"I want to emphasize that this is our common reward for our work, and there is a contribution from absolutely every one of you. This is recognition of our professional qualities and great work for the benefit of the development of the fisheries industry," said the Director of VNIRO.
The VNIRO director also noted with pride that for the first time in several decades, the scientific fleet was replenished with a specially built research vessel Vikenty Zaitsev. The event became a new milestone in the development of Baikal branch science. NIS has already passed all the tests and will embark on its maiden voyage in the upcoming navigation. The vessel's design will be scaled for future NIS, which are planned to be built for other fisheries basins.

Kirill Viktorovich noted that 2026 is an anniversary year for VNIRO and spoke about events dedicated to the 145th anniversary of Russian fisheries science.

The priority task of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography remains personnel training and career guidance work with young people. Today VNIRO is a key scientific center of the industry, which implements many diverse research projects. Special attention is paid to the involvement of young people in the field of research and their orientation towards achieving competitive results. In this regard, the Tyumen branch of VNIRO is a vivid example of the successful involvement of already trained personnel in the industry. The branch has a specialized department of Tyumen State University, where theory is taught by academic teachers, and students practice at the branch itself. Many young people remain employed in science after graduation.

The meeting also discussed current and prospective large-scale expeditionary projects, further updating of the material and technical base of VNIRO branches. In live communication with employees, the most important topics for the team are considered.
