Specialists carry out trawling, acoustic and netting work to assess the state of populations of semi‑aquatic, riverine, marine and sturgeon fish, as well as crayfish in the autumn period.
At each station, scientists record key environmental parameters: depth, transparency, and temperature of water on two horizons, air temperature, wind direction and speed, and sea waves. At the same time, samples of water, sediments, zooplankton and zoobenthos are being taken — they will be analyzed in the laboratory to assess hydrochemical, toxicological and hydrobiological parameters.
The survey results will help determine the number and qualitative structure of populations, and the collected data will become the basis for calculating stocks, total allowable catches and recommended catch of aquatic biological resources, as well as for analyzing the state of their habitat.
