During the work, control catches were carried out using stationary gill nets and purse seines; the size and mass characteristics of fish were studied, the sex ratio and stages of gonad maturity were examined, and structures were collected to determine the age of the individuals.
In parallel, hydrobiological studies were conducted: samples of phyto- and zooplankton, as well as benthic organisms, were taken to assess the food base of the water body. These data are especially important: up to 1.4 million whitefish larvae are released into the river each year, and assessing the intake capacity makes it possible to determine the permissible volume of release without risking the ecosystem, while ensuring the expected commercial return.
The collected materials will help to estimate the population of aquatic biological resources, prepare forecast calculations, substantiate the raw material base for fishing, and develop measures for its regulation.
