The work is carried out at the expense of compensation payments — they compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources caused during economic activity. Every year, the branch develops and coordinates scientific recommendations with calculations of the maximum allowable production volumes of juveniles of valuable fish species — this allows us to build the process as reasonably and efficiently as possible.
On October 27, specialists from the Vologda branch of VNIRO took part in the work of the commission of the North‑Western Territorial Administration of Rosrybolovstvo, which oversees the implementation of measures for the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources.
As part of the program, 1,696 whitefish fingerlings, each weighing at least 10 grams, were released into Lake Onega (near the mouth of the Andoma River). The juveniles were raised at the Nikolsky Fish Breeding Plant named after V. P. Vrasky. Before release, the commission carefully checked the condition of the planting material, as well as measured the temperature and dissolved oxygen levels, both in the shipping containers and directly at the release site, to ensure maximum survival of the fish.
