Altai branch of VNIRO held the first stage of the Amateur Fishing Championship "Fishing for science – 2026"

7 specialists of the branch, experienced and novice fishermen, took part in the competitions held on the Ob River in the city of Barnaul.
Before the Championship, the judging panel announced the regulations for fishing and the rules of the event, which was conducted in full compliance with the Fishing Rules for the West Siberian Fisheries Basin.

The participants of the tournament competed from the shore using float rods and spinning rods, using various baits and no more than two hooks per participant. Fishing was conducted on a catch-and-release basis.

After capture, the fish were measured, weighed, and released back into their natural habitat. This year, the event coincided with conditions that were not very favorable for fishing: falling water levels and high temperatures. However, the competition was held in full. The driver, Evgeny Aksenov, turned out to be the undisputed and only successful fisherman with a catch of bleak with a total weight of 46 g.

The winner will take part in the II stage of the Championship!
