VNIRO scientists took part in the 30th session of the Mixed Russian-Chinese Commission

The 30th session of the Joint Russian-Chinese Commission, whose activities are aimed at organizing cooperation between scientists in the field of fisheries development, was held in the format of a videoconference.
As part of the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Head of Rosrybolovstvo Vasily Sokolov, Denis Kotsyuk, Head of the Khabarovsk branch of the VNIRO Federal State Budgetary Institution, took part in the work of the Commission.
 
During the session, the participants discussed the results of cooperation between the Parties in the field of fish conservation measures and the study of sturgeon and salmon fish species, as well as in the field of artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources of the Amur and Ussuri border waters in 2020 and 2021.
 
Scientists from Russia and China exchanged views on the further continuation of research on sturgeon fish species, as well as on the release of aquatic biological resources in the border waters of the Amur River. The parties appreciated the importance of the events and expressed their readiness to continue working in this direction.
 
The delegations approved a cooperation plan for the current year and agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Working Commission on Fisheries Management in the Border Waters of the Amur and Ussuri Rivers in November 2022. Within the framework of this commission, data will be exchanged on the catch of sturgeon species of fish, chum salmon of the autumn Ussuri and Upper Amur populations in the border waters. Also, based on the results of research on the resources of sturgeon fish species in the border waters of the Amur River in China and Russia, scientists will exchange data on the release of juveniles from fish hatcheries in China and Russia using a single methodology. An assessment of the number and size-weight characteristics of the produced species, its general biological condition will be made.
 
In addition, scientists from Russia and China have planned to develop a program of scientific cooperation in the framework of studying the state of reserves and protection of resources of the autumn chum salmon.
