The next stage of release of animals from the Srednyaya Bay has begun

On October 18, stage 6 of the plan to release marine mammals from the Srednyaya Bay into the wild began.

The research vessel of the Russian Federal research Institute of fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) took on Board 11 Beluga whales. The animals will be transported to their traditional habitat in the sea of Okhotsk and released in the Sakhalin Bay area in specially installed transport baths. The journey will take 3-4 days.

Before loading the marine mammals were examined by veterinarians, who stated that the animals are in good physical shape and ready for transportation. Throughout the route Beluga whales will be accompanied by VNIRO scientists, doctors and trainers.
